Professor Ewan Pearson is the BHF Data Science Centre Associate Director and Theme Lead for the Diabetes Data Science Catalyst.

The focus of Ewan’s theme is to support research of relevance to both diabetes and cardiovascular diseases through the use of health data science and advanced analytics such as Artificial Intelligence.

Credentials:

Ewan Pearson is Professor of Diabetic Medicine at the University of Dundee, Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh, Guest Professor at the University of Lund and Honorary Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee.

Ewan’s research interests are in phenotypic and genotypic variation in people with diabetes and how these impact on treatment and disease outcomes.

His research uses electronic medical record data from people with diabetes in Scotland, linked to population genomics. He leads the iDiabetes programme, implementing precision diabetes care in NHS Tayside. His other interests include implementation of pharmacogenomics in the NHS and he is a member of the NHS E&I Pharmacogenomics Test Evaluation Working Group and the Scottish Pharmacogenomics Working Group.
