Public Contributor Strategic Oversight Board

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Data Science Centre is seeking to appoint a Public Contributor to sit on the BHF Data Science Centre Strategic Oversight Board.

The BHF Data Science Centre is part of Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) and works at the cutting-edge of cardiovascular data research. It resulted from a partnership between HDR UK and the BHF and works to deliver the data and data science needed to address some of the most pressing challenges in heart and circulatory health research.

The Centre aims to enable responsible, ethical research that uses advanced analytic methods on the UK’s large and diverse cardiovascular disease data. The results of such research can help shape health services for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases (such as heart attacks, heart failure, stroke and dementia), provide patients and health professionals with the tools to make better decisions, and bring the latest medical discoveries to patients across the UK. What will the public contributor do?

Joining the Strategic Oversight Board will give you the chance to provide strategic input into the direction of the Centre and provide the patient and/or public viewpoint.

As part of the Board, the public member will review centre’s progress, and provide support and advice on developing key partnerships and achieving the centre’s goals. The public member will also provide the patient and/or public viewpoint when discussing strategic areas of research.

The Strategic Oversight Board public member will also have the opportunity attend the BHF Data Science Centre Patient and Public Advisory Group – that meet quarterly – and provide key updates as needed. Support will be provided by our Patient and Public Involvement Manager and an opportunity to be involved in other areas of work will also be available. Read our role profile to find out more.
